I have had mine for years they are just two sizes of conduit that fit inside each other. I turned up a neck for the larger one that the smaller piece slides through. It clamps down with a simple thumb screw.

Ledball not knowing what type of height you need to achieve the below stand extends to approx 4ft 6 inches and was purchased at the local hardware store. It is a heavy duty halogen work light stand that came without the lights for 16.00ea. Folded up it is 24 inches in length and 5 inches in dia. If this is what you might be looking for you need to beware as they also have the light duty stands but they only extend to about 2ft 6inches in height.

Thanks for the info guys;
John will check-out the lamp stands at Home Depot.
40 rod, I have some small peices of conduit 1/2 and 3/4 inch, it kind of a sloppy fit but I guess the collars will take the looseness away.  ledball

  A drummer friend of mine was throwing out a cymbal stand that the mount broke off. Sawed the end off square, fit a dowel on top with a skateboard wheel attached, put an arrow thru the wheel, made a paper clip chain with a ribbon attached & hooked it to the nock. Works great, cost zip. Usually shoot at 100yards, so one at 50 is enough for me. Also have a bent wirethat I snap on my shooting box & hang a ribbon.               MIKE

This idea came from a maker of windflags for the modern bench shooters. Just go out to your local golf pro shop and get those extendable poles that golfers use to retrieve their balls out of the ponds. They extend out to any length and can be locked in that position. A little modification to put a spike on one end and however you mount your flags on the other end and your all set.

I have BOTH the cymbol stand and a halogen light stand (like the one pictured).  Both at (different) yard sales - $8 and $5.

Ok, I'm cheap and bragging about it.

The thinwall conduit works too - and it's free in the trash bin at work.
