Breech-Seat Case Seperation?

Hello, everyone.  I came across something I had never heard before.  I have the SPG Black Powder Loading Primer.  In the chapter on Schuetzen loading for the .38-55 & .32-40..Garbe states that merely filling the case with black powder & firing will stretch or cause a seperation.  By compressing powder .075", this doesn't happen.  Is this true?  Why would compressing powder solve this problem..or for that matter, not compressing cause it?  Thanks!

I've found that to be true also.  Dont know why it works, but it does.  I made a little doohicky to compress the powder and leave a little space at the mouth of the case to seat a wad.  I found a fixed load that works just as good as breechseating so haven't used it for a long time.

I have loaded my 32-40 case with blackpowder full and them finger seated a card on it and shot it with no problems. I did make sure that there was no gap between the breech seated bullet and the end of the cartridge. Accuracy wasn't anything to brag about but no problems.
