So then lead ore would be fine, even if it was pulverized by man and the end result turned out to have no ceramic or quarts media in it?

Been aound the world 6 times and seen plenty of sand. It's all sand Not all looks the same color grain size and weight. No advantage that I can see to one sand vs the other. Just because some snake oil gun parts house says what he has is special does not make it so.

I read the diffination of heavy "sand". Is this the offical ASSRA diffinition? If so, it will be legal to use tungsten (even heavier than lead) to fill my bags! Is that the official ruling here for the ASSRA sand bag rules?

Or is it if, you buy a product that says "sand" it doesn't matter what is in it and thats legal?

Shovels to go a round for all Wink

In geology, sand is detrital material between 2mm diameter on the coarse end to 1/16mm diameter on the fine end, so sand basically refers to a particulate size range.

A sand can be pretty much any material so long as it is detrital material, which is composed of minerals occurring in sedimentary rocks, which were derived from preexisting igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic rocks, as produced by the disintegration and weathering of rocks that has been moved from its site of origin.

And of course, the disintegration, weathering and movement occurs by natural earth processes. So says the American Geological Institute's Dictionary of Geological Terms.

PS:   Sorry Jeff, but every University level Geology Professor I've encountered would give you a failing grade if you listed Wikipedia as a referenced source in your research, and you were warned the very first day of lecture. As they say, science is science.
