i have a Stevens 44 1.2 in 25-20 WCF 1-`10 twist. i want to load some fixed ammo to try and want to know the difference between fixed and bs bullet loads. 9.1 grains of 4100 is what i am doing now using breech seating. i am thinking of the same load in fixed.

any experience with doing this??         thanks

Not shooting that cartridge or powder, but I would suggest backing off your b.s. load by at least 1/2 grain (possibly even a full grain) and working your way back by tenths of a grain.  Keep in mind that you are decreasing your effective case capacity by going from breech seated loads to fixed ammo.

Dave,
To keep in the same velocity range, you'll have to drop your fixed loads at least 1/2 gr.

If you have any WC820 give it a try 6.0 gr has been giving Elaine's 25/20ss some pretty good SD's BSed. Pistol and rifle primers seem pretty even, the edge may go to the pistol so far. We are using the 90 gr 257283 mold.

1360 fps Vel/11 SD Your case is a little larger. Add .2-.5 gr. or just try 6.0 fixed.
