Hello everyone.  Where might I obtain mutton tallow...the nice firm white stuff made from kidney fat?  I used to be able to buy it from local farmer/butcher..now he says only way to get it is if I bring in my own animal!  There is a place in MO. that has the white stuff..2.25lb. bucket..would last me years..only they require a minimum $75.00 or 7lb. minimum order.  Would there be enough interest in having a group buy?  Thanks!

I don't really need any mutton tallow but am wondering where this place is in Missouri?  If it's anywhere near my trail maybe I could help you out.

Dixie Gun Works lists mutton tallow in their catalog. Approx. 12 to 16 ounces for $3.50. Item number LA1002.

I'll bet the kidney fat and other internal body cavity hard fat deposits from deer, elk, etc would work just as well.  most hunters discard it when they are processing their game

   They sell 2.25lb. tub for $9.95...But have $75.00 min. order...Maybe ASSRA group buy?
   The stuff I got from Dixie was a nasty, yellow colored, very soft rancid smelling mess!  Not at all like the nice firm white colored lamb tallow I rendered before.  Thanks alot!
