	I have been offered a #2 Roller that the owner says is a double action action .He says it is one of 3000 made by Remington and is in as new condition. Does anyone out there have any info on these rifles

	Aussie_Hunter, I'd be really interested to see the internal mechanism of that double-action #2 rolling block. One thing that has me wondering is what would be the reason for a double action single shot rifle?

	The only thing I can think of is that a panicked soldier may forget to cock it in times of stress, but that seems a bit weak, although more cleaning/ram rods were shot than lost.

	As Aussie-Hunter has not seen the action, I am wondering if the owner means it takes two actions to open the rifle's breech after firing? 1. Cock the hammer. 2. Haul back on the breech block lug. I can't say I've ever heard of a Double Action Remington Rolling Block, never mind having seen one. Harry

	Harry, I think you may be on to it with your two actions hypothesis. Considering the standard rolling block mainsprings, I'm trying to imagine what the double-action trigger pull would be like.

	Have you examined the rifle? If the guy is saying a #2 is double action, then you might find the "nice condition" rifle is either a junker Remington or an Italian reproduction. Regards, Ron

	Well #2's do have a much lighter mainspring pressure than most other rollers, but I still can't understand a reason for a double action Roller?

	I just received the Husqvana roller I bought off this same guy, what a disappointment missing parts , rust covered so am inclined to think once a bull******* probably always one. Thanks for you contributions. Hope to be able to get missing parts from a chap in Sweden from whom I got parts for an old underlever s x s hammer gun. Still undecided as to whether to turn it into an Army pistol or keep it as a rifle. good shooting, Aussie Hunter

	Aussie Hunter, Can you please explain how the double action works? I know of a few rolling blocks that had a lever on the right side of the receiver that was attached to the breech block and when the lever was moved back it opened the breech block and moved the hammer back at the same time. John

	JK, havent seen the rifle and am now in process of legal action with vendor of Husqvana roller I bought from him so not likely to get much co-operation in the future. Thanks for your comment Aussie Hunter

	I'm inclined to agree with the action one: cock hammer, action two: pull back the block idea. As opposed to many "single" actions drop lever and the hammer and block move together, leaving the chamber empty and ready to have a cartridge inserted and the action closed. Thinking of the terms in the sense of double and single action pistols is a red-herring
