Savage and Stevens Arms & History  by Bill West had two editions.  The first edition 1971 is the best for Stevens information, in the 2nd edition much of the Stevens information was dropped.  Many years ago, 70's, I talk to Bill West, he informed me he was and engineer not an author, he engineered his books!  Bill West has passed on - at a Tulsa Gun show I meet a dealer who knew Bill, his story about Bill's gun collecting and life were interesting.
