Hello everybody , this forum is great!
I had mentioned a friend of mine, Ron Long in another thread. Since then I have been asked about him and how he is doing. To tell the truth he has been having a tough time. He has had 3 hart attacks in the past years since he moved here. Now he is fighting cancer and may have to undergo surgery we just don't know yet. I just got off the phone with him and asked if I could let folks know how he is doing. I'm not sure if he would like a bunch of phone calls but I'm sure he could use your prayers.
Thanks
Bob

I worked for Ron years ago when he was making his fine flint and percussion locks and trigger groups and I can honestly say that he is one of the nicest guys in the gun business. He is a true craftsman, and a damn good shot too! I wish him well, and my prayers will be with you Ron.

All good wishes to Ron in his fight.
His work has always been outstanding, and it's nice to see the gun he built for Bob Petersen on the website (even though it's mislabled).
Best of luck Ron!

I would like to thank all of you for your kind comments. I noticed that there have been quite a few folks looking at this thread. I'm going to show this thread to Ron, so I would like to ask if you would leave a comment.
I just talked to him on the phone, he is doing well and in good spirits. He will find out if he will need surgery this week.
Thanks
Bob

Update!! I talked to Ron a little while ago, he had just left the Doctor. He has been going through Kemo for some time now. After the exam the Doc said that the tumor appearers to be dead!! Although its dead he will still have to undergo surgery, the Doc is afraid that the tumor will come back if he don't remove whats left. So it sounds like he will have surgery in the next few weeks, but it sounds like the cancer is gone.

Many years ago now, Ron made me a 30” full octagon #3 barrel in 32-40 for a Helm hiwall, that is my favorite rifle. I have shot that gun countless thousands of times, it’s amazingly accurate, I would love to know how many pounds of lead I’ve put through that barrel, and it looks good too. Thank you Ron!
