Just bought this on Gunbroker. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
My first side plate. Anything I should know or comments? Other than I probably paid too much, which I sometimes do to get a scarce gun.

Sorry, still can't seem to figure out how to post link.

I want one. Would love to see some large photos of the receiver with the plate off. Something else to keep an eye out for.

32-35 Thanks for fixing the link. Tried to fix it but still doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? There was another bidder on this one. Anyone here? I went with the buy it now because I was tied up when the auction ended and the sellers minimum bid was a $100 less than the buy it now. When you are in that price range, $100 is not worth not getting a gun I have been looking for over several years. He did agree to a 2 day inspection before I made the bid so if there are any serious defects I can return it. The .22 barrel is off a 44 and he says it shoots fine. I have a supply of .25 Rimfire ammo but try to use is sparingly. Anybody know the difference between a 44 barrel and the Sideplate barrel?

You have a 5-screw action! My two large side plates are both the 4-screw variation. I have to warn you, side plates are addicting!

These are the first two that I found. The large one is a 4-screw, unlike the one slumlord found. On the centerfires, there were several grades. Look in the Grant books for the Stevens ad that gives the number. My other large sideplate has extra nice wood and no cut for an open sight - leading me to believe it was the highest grade (109 or 110?).

The 4-screw has the trigger pinned to the frame, where the 5-screw uses another screw.

Beautiful rifle. I was not aware there was a 4 and 5 screw model. Need to do some research since I already bought one. Anybody have the awnser to my question about the 44 barrel on the Sideplate rifle? Minor fitting or major project? Apparently it can be done because the rifle I bought has had it done and it works. As I remember, the 44 is basicly an improved sideplate so it makes sense that the barrel could be made to fit. Seller says it shoots fine. I will find out soon enough.

Slumlord, RJM and 32/35,
Thankyou very much for the pictures. I've only read about the side plates in Frank DeHaas book. It really great to be able to see them in good pictures.

32/35, i take it that yours is in 32/35? Thats my favorite BP caliber. I've built and chamber two rifles in 32/35. Both match winners!!!

There is a .25-20 on Gunbroker with a minimum bid of $4,749.  GB#219996547 and no one has explained to me how to set up the link yet. That one is nice but above my budget level at this time. It was there when I bought mine and sort of helped convince that mine might not be too high after all.
