The little German stalking rifle I have for sale, and it is a little gun was diagnosed as a .22 High Power. I am casting the chamber this morning to be sure but does anyone know the dimensions of a .22 High Power? Thanks much, Jerry

It's based on the 30-30, so nominal dimensions are:

Rim:  .492
Head:  .418
Shoulder dia.: .363
Neck dia.:  .252
Rim to shoulder length:  1.379
Overall length: 2.047

This is from Donnelly's book.

I remember a savage in 22 hipower I lookede at and was told the bore was larger than a 224 something like a 228. What is the bore on this rifle?

Forgot to mention that, Tom.  .228" groove diameter was standard on both the .22 HP and the .22 WCF, predecessor to the Hornet.

Minor detail. Ackley gives loads and lyman used to have a mold.  In their handbook of cast bullets which i cant find a date in that i bought in the 60s they list mould #22835,228151,228367and 228391.they sugest 3.4 gr. unique. No idea where you could get jacketed bullets for it. Ackley has quite a few loads for it and recomends making cases from 30/30.
Jake hope this helps  What do you want for this rifle? any pics?

Graf & Sons shows that Hornaday makes a .227" 70 gr., Huntington Die Specialties shows two .228" bullets in 60 and 70 gr., and Buffalo Arms shows a 60 gr.

Make the cases out of .25-35s. One pass through the HiPower sizing die and you're done. Fireforming will eliminate the double shoulder. Way less hassle than forming from .30-30s.

I load 6 gr. Unique under the old Lyman/Ideal # 228367 60 gr. in mine for 1" groups at 50 yds.
