You could always lap your rings if the very slight misalignment bothers you.  But I see no reason it should pose a problem.

The misalignment is more than a lapping would take care of. Here is the page from the original catalog that started the whole thing. On the previous page there is a list of Redfield mounts for specific rifles and I have the mounts listed for the Remington 700 short action, I am making the assumption that the pair of mounts that came in the package has the required difference in heights listed on the page below. The mounts have no unevenness built into them to get the two on the same plane, it is pretty much like the picture. The only thing I can think of is the dovetail to dovetail of the mount and ring alow for the misalignment and the fact that the blocks are the posa lock type is what holds the scope in place and the dovetails lock the scope to the block. One couldn't tighten the locking thumb screws enough with finger pressure to damage the scope due to the misalignment. If it were a normal scope mount with weaver rings and mount even a slight misalignment might kink the scope.
