I am curious how many NON members have sold or have something for sale listed on this forum.

Seems many non members have posted how evil the association or members of the board are evil.

I am proposing at the next phone conference that only members can post items of any sort for sale must use their member number and expiration date that is on cards sent to each and every new, or renewed individual that sends in their dues to me the membership secretary.
IF that is not done the ad would be removed from the forum. ASAP.

I have noticed the sale sites get a cut of the sale on their web site. I'd think it wouldn't hurt for people using the forum that is paid for by the assoc, would at least be paid members.

Works for me, except having to find my card and member number. Is it on the magazine with our name and address?

I like evil.

There ia a whole range of ways to handle sales.  I have seen sites that limit posting to members and then have a suggested percentage donation upon sale based based on value.  Then I have seen sites like that reloading tool one where you can't get squat without paying up first.  It seems like a balance to bring new people in and get rid of some of the weird things that come up from time to time.

No objections to a percentage of the sale price. Just wondering how you can know if the final price in the post is the same after the haggeling via PM or phone is completed.

Someone might ask Josh if there is a way to create a filter using the ASSRA membership roster before an entry in the For Sale/Trade can be posted.

How would you handle a trade?

It would have to be on the honor system, for both sales and trades.  Everyone on here is honorable, aren't they?

Still trying to decide if I like the idea or not. Some websites require paid membership for some services. Most social sights do not and that is what I consider this to be even though many are ASSRA members. It might cut down the amount of neat stuff for sale here and that would  be bad. One of the reasions I joined was that I liked this site and felt an obgligation to support it financialy by joining. I still like the website better than the magazine even though it is an excellent, high quality publication. I belong to several other orginizations for the same reason. There is a reloading site that I find useless because you  have to be a paid member to participate and get any good info. My concern that this kind of move could hurt participation.

I think it's a great idea, make it a membership benefit, if your a member you can list stuff for sale at no cost, something like the Journal. If your not a member you can still list stuff for sale but you have to pay for the privilege.

I think it's a great idea. Non-members shouldn't be allowed to purchase items either. In fact, maybe you could make it so a non-member couldn't post on the forums. Heck, why not prevent them from even accessing the forums unless they're a member. That should take care of this problem and any future ones. Problems like too many new members trying to join.

I have been considering rejoining after being gone for a while. Thanks for reminding me why I didn't renew my membership.

Ex-member,

Hi Jerry H.,
That's a great idea. Make this forum a benefit of membership also. I belong to a few other Clubs that do there websites that way and it works just fine. It sort of keeps out the trolls and trash, I've been told that most of the problems here are caused by non-members,  if these non-members want to have a say in ASSRA business make them join, that way they will have to pay to use thier mouth and talk thier trash.
