I know it's not a rifle, & it's not free! Recently aquired a beautiful "free pistol", very old, 99% condition, 22LR,I think it's a Luna action, looks like a mini Aydt. It's got a 12 1/2" barrel, 15"+ adjustable sight radius & a perfect bore. Action is engraved, barrel is fluted & octagonal with the top flat engraved J.D.Moritz & Sohn, Liepzig, Action is also stamped UO over Z (Udo Anschutz, Zella Melis). It's got orthpedic grips & a matching fore end both checkered. With a nickel silver? plate inletted, engraved "Ernst Richter". The person I got it from said he was told, the gun was used in the 1936 Olympics. The only names I'm familiar with are Moritz & Udo Anschutz, can't find any info on the shooter of the German team. Anybody got any info on the 36 Olympics or does anyone know anything about these/this gun, any info would be gratefully appriciated. Also what are these things worth? ...MIKE...

Pictures would help a lot, I used to shoot a bunch of them, and still own 10 or 12 different types.

My goodness, Mike, what a beautiful pistol. Tell me about the screw in the trigger.

Yeah, I couldn't begin to even think of valuing that one, it is like none I have ever seen, if the wife didn't have cancer my next question would be, how much?

Frank; I think the screw is just an extension of the trigger. Behind the trigger is an adjustment screw for wieght of pull & can be adjusted to less than an ounce, just a slight touch on the screw head fires it. It's loaded by pulling the ring lever, under the handle, foreward, then setting the trigger by pressing the lever on the left side of the frame, down. So Frank, am I right in thinking it's a Luna, or could it be a Tell? Just figuring you're the only one that seems to have any experience with them, do you know the vintage or the value(ballpark) . Is there another sight I might be able to get some info?                         Thanks,    ...MIKE...

Mike, I have had some interest in this type of piece. It seems to be in overall wonderfull condition and to a collector of these, of which there are not extensive numbers, probably $1500 extending to maybe $2000. It really is quite lovely.

Very nice item, Mike.

We call them OLD TARGET PISTOL. We shoot them still nowadays on the Traditional Bavarian Championships on 25 meters. I think in the old days they shot it on 50 meters.

If I've got more information, I'll post it. But first I have to research.

Your target-pistol has the system/action of BÜCHEL LUNA. The stock/grip looks like the style of Udo Anschütz, but probably it is not a Anschütz-pistol. The sights are probably not original, they look too rough.

A real and original Udo Anschütz has the three characters UAZ in a hatchment on each part of the pistol.

My UAZ-expert doesnt know any Mr. Richter from the Olympic games in 1936, the only known names of German shooters are Dr.Wehner, Emil Martin und Erich Krempel.

Please tell me the serial-number of that pistol. If it is a UAZ, there must be probably a number between 6000 and 7000.
