Optical Booster

I'm going to buy one of these Optical boosters. They make one that has a rubber mount that you can switch between scopes or a screw in for several different popular target scopes.

Has anyone on this forum ever tried one? If so, what do you think of them?

Sure have, own several of them as a matter of fact.  The glass is as good as any I've ever seen, they're pretty clear, and the magnification is pre reticle so your reticle gets bigger to.  You do however lose a little bit of the very outside of your objective.

I talked to the guy yesterday that owns the company. You can do that, also. He likes to talk!

He told me that when you have the parallax adjusted and the eye piece focused for the cross hairs, that the target will be a little blurry  (a relative term) but, you will be able to spot bullet holes out to at least 600 yards, I think longer than that even.

Read the reports of people that use them on his sight. Very impressive, it seems to be particularly good for vision problems.

Anyway, I'm going to buy one and try it out. I'll give a report on it (good or bad) later this spring.

The way it works is you're basically screwing a magnifiying glass into the back of your scope the "optical booster" increases your magnification by the amount stated on the package when you buy your booster.

Basically modern scopes only, I haven't tried the ones with the rubber sleeve that slips over the eyepiece.

Hank,
One of the scopes that I will be using mine on is a K10 weaver with a 1.360 diameter eye piece (there min is 1 7/16) he told me to build the eye piece up with something like tape but, I'm going to use O-rings. The rubber will go onto eye pieces as big as 1.8 so, you could do the same thing, maybe use some rubber hose to get it to the 1 7/16 size.

I'd stay away from the O rings, they might allow it to slide off, best to trade me for a 4.5-14x40 something (I have several that would be on the block)

Sure, I'd be happy to if they have steel tubes and are over 15 inches long.

Well, that rules out anything I'd put on the block, man, I can never get a deal.
