Try trapdoors galore, or do a search on google for Al Fresca.  Both should be able to sell you a sight.

You might also want to check S&S Firearms in NY.

Red Dauherty in Northern Indiana has been my source for years. Alway fair priced and good about  condition descriptions. You won't go wrong with Red.

   Hi Vern
Welcome to the ASSRA Forum! Being new, you probably have not seen a copy of the Association's magazine titled "Single Shot Rifle Journal" as yet

Each issue has a classified advertisement section in the back with some really great opportunities.  One of the regular advertisers in :

                   Ed Knisley
                   2645 Southern Hills Rd
                   York, PA 17403

                   Voice: 717-741-2556

Ed specializes in Springfield Trapdoors and has every arsenal made part that goes into the manufacture of a complete rifle.

Additionally, Ed has a parts table every year in March at the Maryland Antique Arms Collectors' show in Timonium, Maryland should you have an opportunity to attend.

You will most assuredly find what you need with Ed.

Vern ,  Do you think he may appreciate having a 20X scope on his rifle instead ?  What kind of shooting does he do ?

Good morning

Thanks for all the help. I ordered one from Al Frasca, looks like it will match the patina of the barrel. I inherited the rifle, Grandad deer hunted with it as long as I can remember with out the sight. Always brought home meat. I started reloading and want to be able to shoot the 45-70.

Thanks Vern

Are you admitting that you don't know ?   Or do you want to see how I would do it if you brought your T.D. in for a Night Force, Nikon, or Leupold installation ?

  This application may satisfy your curiosity ;

For more details on the application, I have moved up to the "Gunsmithing" category where it is more rightly posted.

Now that I have revealed to you that it is not an impossibility, that which you originally thought to be impossible, I am wondering if you have the mechanical aptitude, machining skills, machinery, and hand-eye coordination necessary to actually fabricate such a mount on your own ?

I am certain you were wanting, and hoping for, a major manufacturer's part number for bases and rings in order to allow you to drill and tap four holes.  Sorry, not this time.    Wink

Would you please let me know when you get the project figured out, plus, near to completion ?

Are you implying that you are a gunsmith? The scope mt. u show is garbage.  And yes i used to belong to the ASSRA untill I could no longer stand some of its overbearing members.

Good move. TD carbine is a good hunting rifle like it is. It was never intended to be scoped even if some know it all thinks it should.
best of luck
