Hello Bnice, (Bob).

Your best bet is to contact a Mr. Michael Petrov who lives in Alaska and who can be found regularly on the Doublegunforum.com

He probably knows more about Neidner and his rifles than any other man alive. If you click on his name on any of his posts you can send him a PM, once you have signed up to the Forum. (It's free of charge).

Mr. Petrov is a most obliging gentleman, and he will assist you in any way he can. I know this from personal experience.

Regards,

Harry

+1, I have a .22 Ballard with a Neidner barrel stamped 1540CB. When I bought the gun it had Schuetzen-style wood, but I believe it was originally a position/prone gun based on the lever configuration and extra hole drilled/tapped under the forearm. I've wondered about the gun, so I'll send mr petrov a PM and see if he can help.

bnice & 40-82Hepburn:

Michael should have more info on what this may have been installed on, but here is the basic info on the your barrels.

Barrel#'s 1475-1557 were produced in 1938, so this includes both barrel#'s 1493 & 1540. CB was Carlyn W. Behrman worked who made barrels from 1933 To 1939.
You should have a roll stamp on the top of the barrel that looks like this:  NIEDNER RIFLE CORP, DOWAGIAC, MICH.

Hookem, thanks a bunch for the info. Indeed, my barrel does have that info stamped on top of the barrel.
I have .22 Ballards by Eric & CC Johnson, Pope, Peterson, and a few custom guns with no makers' identification but I've never actually seen another Neidner (tho I know of one in the OKC area).
