Nero:

Sorry do not know Purcell's twist or barrel manufacture.
I forwarded Purcell's contact info. to you if you wish to discuss with him.

Hi Dave, many thanks for info.
After trying to get my standard Hornet and then K Hornet to shoot into one hole with my BSA Mk4 International perhaps I should give up flogging a dead horse and now try the twenty five calibre.
Regards.

I have found the quarter bores to be very or extremely susceptable to the wind.
Under certain conditions you can get them to shoot precisely and then different wind conditions the next day sends them all over the place.

.25s are great for testing your wind reading skills.

I still prefer the .32s which are not as erratic when you slightly miscall the wind.

I think we need to adopt some of the .22 rimfire bullet designs and reduce our .25 velocities to get those light bullets to preform better in the wind.

What does everyone else think is important to improve .25 accruracy other than caliber selection.

There is really only one way to reduce wind deflection........... Ballistic coefficient. If it were me, I'd have about a 130 gr spitzer bullet mold made with about a 6 caliber ogive and 1.09 - 1.12 long. A bullet like that will stabilize in a 10 twist .258 barrel at velocity's from 1100 - 1450 fps.
