I have a high wall in 45/125. Before I go to the hassel of brass, dies , projectiles and such. Is it worth reloading for. I have a roller in 45/90, am I goingto get anything extra out of the 45/125. Thanks

Hello Fazer,

You certainly have a 'fun gun' there. Before commenting, I'd like to know more about the rifle, was it originally chambered in this calibre? If so, I think you have quite a scarce rifle. How long is the barrel and what sights are fitted? Pictures would be very helpful.

Are you going to get anything extra out of it? Well, with full loads, quite a bit more recoil. I know the round can be loaded lighter, but what's the point of having a pint glass and only drinking halves out of it?  Grin

That really depends on you. Is it an old original, or a newer rechambered?

I   have a 45-90 and a 45-120.
the 120 definitely has more kick to it.

but if you just like to play with different guns, its worth shooting.
Edit
Guess I was thinking you had a 45-120.  A 45-125 would be neat cause of its rarity.

Thanks for that. I'm away from the house at present, so I am going by memory.  It has a #3 barrel, plain sights. I have a letter from Cody for it, it is right as it left the factory. It's in pretty good nick. I'll have to give it some thought if it is worth messing with. The 45/125 is a semi bottle neck case.

The 45-125 Winchester Express was designed to use 300gr bullets with a 1-36" twist, so keep that in mind when ordering bullets.
That's a pretty rare chambering.
