This Stevens Model 45 in .25 Stevens rimfire has been on Gunbroker forever. Barrel is stamped Stevens Pope. Anyobody ever heard of one of thes in .25 Rimfire? Stamping on barrel looks right but I am wondering if it is a possibility that it is legimitate.

Since it is a Stevens Pope, it probably is right. I would guess its Post-Harry.

... and you could shoot it breech seated by seating a bullet and using one of the .25 rimfire blanks made for nail guns.  Ought to be OK for gallery work, and you would have the "only Pope" there! How cool is that?  Cool

Or, you could take a look at the June 2010 issue of SSE to see how to make 25 Stevens rimfire ammunition and not have to worry about the "unknowns" in the .25 nail gun blank cartridge.

Actualy I have a prety good supply of .25 Stevens Rimfire ammo that I have bought over the last few years. Was concerned it the gun was legimitate Stevens Pope gun. Price is high to me for the condition of the gun but they aren't making any more. Gun has not had any bids and I think it has been arround for close to a year or so. Poor condition gun could be worth it if it is rare enough.

What's the bid?  I am just curious as to what one in a less desirable caliber (as a shooter) is.

Minimum bid is $1500. Buy it now is $1900. Seems high to me but is still tempting if it is a real Pope, even if it is a post Pope barrel.

a bit pricey for this Idaho cowboy.  I would be unable to resist a centerfire breechblock and a rechambering job.  Better I don't even go look.

Rich

That is about one-fourth of what my Plains Game hunt is SA cost this past April.

What is the Pope number and code under the fore end?  I asked that question long ago, and got no response.

Was the Stevens Pope stamp on this rifle a jab at Pope after they parted company?  Huh Grin   I seriously doubt it has a any Pope numbers under the forestock.

The top of the barrel looks right. Have not seen photos of bottom of barel. Will have to ask and see if I get reply and photos.

After looking at this picture I checked 3 Stevens-Pope rifles in the safe and i think this rifle is right.  An early Stevens-Pope.

I think it was Stevens way of swatting Pope with the screen door on the way out. And of course, sell guns.   Smiley
