I want to commend you on the excellent presentation.  It is very professionally done, and of course I am only seeing photographs of what you've accomplished.  It must be 20 X's more spectacular in real time.

Actually, I would have to suggest that you have quality pieces that many museums would be interested in acquiring

I now know who to come to when I have Ballard related question.

   I enjoyed the opportunity,

   Creedmoormatch

Thanks!

Vall,

You've posted a closer picture of that honor target before, and I believe you gave its history at that time.  Will you forgive my laziness and repeat that info, please?  It adds a great deal to the display for sure.   Smiley

If you got any old original percussion Schutzen rifles I'd like to see those even more.  Thats what I'm interested in now.  Just thought I'd let ya know just in case you have some, or just one. Or know somebody that has one.  Huh Roll Eyes

Very nice Fred!  I like it.  Is it yours?

Caliber?  What bullet do you use?  Twist?

Calibre; 10.4mm (.41) nominal--I make it 10.7 groove dia. One turn in 32", very heavily choked--hence it will not shoot with a patched ball. Started off with a .41 calibre pistol bullet but too light. Altered a Lee mould to a 200grn full wadcutter. These are dipped in molten lube and loaded straight on top of the powder charge--no wad. With 37grn of Swiss no2 (3fg) it will make one hole groups at 50m, which is the only distance I shoot it at. Nice clear holes, just like my old k38 S&W 38Special used to make with hollow base wadcutters.
Needs a bullet starter and I am still using one that I turned up from scrap aluminium about 10 yrs ago---one day I'll make a better looking brass one.
No sights whenIi got it so I fitted Pedersoli apertures.

No Maynards Joe. All Ballards. I'd like to own a Maynard someday, but don't have even one yet. No percussion Schuetzens either. Not much of a muzzleloader guy; I'm too lazy.

The honor target is an original German target from the 1960's with what appears to be 6 shooters having fired on it. Someone thought it best to repair the holes before selling it, so they very neatly patched them from the back and carefully painted in the patches.
I'll try to find the closeup in my files and post it soon. It's pretty neat cartoon charachters running from a windmill with a bullseye on it.

Joe, Frank, why not another TD Scheutzen??  Frank, I know you're already tempted, so Joe, why don't you jump into to this too. They really are fun(?) to build. I'll see if I have any better pictures, just to enhance your thinking guys.

Just as a tickler, I'll try and find a couple of better of the Scheutzen. If there is anybody out there who was at the "gathering" when I made my crash landing, and saw and/or handled this rifle chime in if you're so inclined. Your observations are better than my comments. Anyhow, here goes
