One of epic proportions.

I have the Sukalle Borchardt rifle, and one of Steve Earle's Wesson #1 Long Range actions; both sitting here beside me.
I got six rifle projects underway, and a taxidermy bill from RSA due in November.

If I sold the Wesson I could have John King put his excellent DST's in the Borchardt and build a long range rifle.

If I sold the Borchardt, I could have the Earle built into the same type of rifle.

Any Dear Abbys' out there?

Dear Rich,
Your love affairs have gotten you in a real pickle.  Your going to have to choose between one of your sweethearts and stay faithful without wandering.  Both will make a fine LR rifle.  May I suggest if you choose the Wesson, that you contact Glenn Fewless as he has built several rifles on the Wesson action and they are fine shooters.  Glenn is very tough to beat with his at Lodi,WI.  There are a couple of stock patterns offered and I would choose one that is fairly straight. 
If you choose the Borchardt over the Wesson, I believe John King uses scheutzen highwall castings from the Shiloh foundry to make his dst's for the Borchardt. I talked to him about a year ago and considered having him put a set in my Borchardt. Have you seen a set of these in a rifle???
Trying to string along two beauties at the same time is not good.  My advice, pick one and don't stray.  Abby

You guys are a LOT of help.

The closet is beyond full.
There is a gorgeous Axtell in there, sharing space with a multi-barrel CPA.  Let's not get into originals or the rack of Shilohs.

My lovely wife likes my single shots, she thinks they all have a beauty of their own.  She just asked if there were any I had not shot this year.  The woman is into fine walnut and case hardened steel.

RIch,  my personal choice would be to go with the Earle/Wesson.  The Borchardts, unless they were an original civilian action are not terribly uncommon and to my eyes, while legitimate single shots of the historic period they just do not have the elegance of the Wesson
