I came across a 7mm RB all original, full stock. Decent bore,action runs pretty smooth. Whats the max I should pay for something like this. (Receiver is marked Remington 1901 on the tang) Thanks for any help.

Its shootable. They just want alittle more for it..around $500. Im just torn between getting one that I can customize,do a barrel/caliber change or getting something like this and keeping it original. Thank you for your help.

If your looking for one to work on there are some nice Swedish rolling blocks that were made into sporters in Sweden. If a person keeps an eye on the auction sites they go $350.00 to $450.00.

Richardwv, that has to be the best reason for buying a rolling block I have ever heard. And so true. I've been down that road a few times and like you said for the price of a tank of gas. Some folks get fixated on getting a firearm for just so much $$$. Don't get it cause its a few $$ more than they expected to pay. And spend the next five years looking for what they had passed up for only a few bucks more. Gee think that will work on the wife next gunshow?? Frank

I have no doubt that tweaked they can do quite well.....as can many otherwise just so - so rifles.  The point is compared to a couple of my earlier RB rifles, the metal fit and final finish is lesser and the critical inletting isn't of the highest quality either....all of which can lessen accuracy.  By the time these were assembled they were no longer frontline weapons for modern armies...but a less expensive weapon for a frugal (or desperately short of arms) military and from my experience the build quality reflects this.  Remington didn't build junk, but I don't believe the ones I've seen reflect the best of Remington's work.
