A good clean one will make an excellent rifle.  I had one worked over by Steve Durren into a beautiful 38-50 mid range rifle.

I have one that was a shotgon 16 ga. and someone put a 32-40 liner into it. It shoots very well. It is one of the guns that has the safty hammer on it. It was 100% case colored with a beautiful blued barrel. But, the checkering looks like someone used a Dremel tool to cut it. It came from the factory that way.
