Haenel Aydt Rifles

A good friend of mine passed away recently and his wife has tasked me with the duty of evaluating his firearms.  Two that I cannot find in my sources are made by the company of Haenel.  Both are .22s and well marked as being of the Aydt system.  One is a KK Sport and the other is a KK Olympic.  Both had the square stemmed tang sights (which are now missing) and  seem to have been very high quality rifles.  Can someone who is knowledgeable about such things contact me by PM or e-mail with some guidance on how to proceed in helping her?  Thanks in advance!

Hi Froggie,

would it be possible to show some pics-pics-pics of those firearms? So I would be able to tell more about these two specimen.

So I would ask somebody who might know more about old Haenel-KK rifles. We have also old Haenel-catalogs in a friend's archive.

Greetings from Munich

If you look up: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links), which is the website of the UK NRA Historic Arms Resource Centre, you will find pictures and descriptions of these rifles.

Thanks, Biggi and Fred.  I'm out of town on a medical journey now but will return tomorrow.  The pictures on the site Fred mentioned seem to be very much as I remember the Sport model that is there in my friend's collection.  The Olympic Model strikes me as strange in that the stock is one piece... it surrounds the receiver all the way around.  The quest continues!

Thanks again,
Froggie

The Haenel KK Sport and Olympics were made in the late 1950's and early 1960's. They are very nice, and high quality as German guns usually are. I had a KK Sport for a few years and it was a great shooter.
They are fairly desireable, and bring decent money around the price range of the BSA Target model .22 Martinis.

I am unable to help re values as I am UK based but I have 2 KK sports 1 with a heavy barrel and full set of original sights. The other has the original mid barrel sight and I have mounted a period scope on this one.  They both shoot as well as anything I have shot, Martinis being a favorite action. The triggers especially the heavy barrel is like a full blown Target rifle. I would not part with them a truly well made rifle. They were made in the 1930's mine  being 1939  near the end of production  the other earlier.
Post WW2 Weihrauch marketed aTarget rifle based on the same action in the US.
According to the Book Alte Scheibenwaffen the Olympia with full wood stock is very rare and one is in Bob Simpson collection the only  one observed.
Lovely Rifles someone will be very lucky.

In the second volume of Alte Scheibenwaffen, on page 332 you will find a picture and description of a Olympia Klein Kaliber rifle by Haenel.

Very large checkered forestock. Very pronounced pistol grip. Pancake cheek plate. Single trigger, diopter sight which is missing. Mounted like the system Aydts. There is also a Haenel KK Olympia. It has double set triggers, a one piece stock, scope blocks and a different type mounting system for the rear sight.  Extremely pronounced pistol grip.
