Ledball, I agree on the Journal.  The article about the Schutzenliesl was fascinating.  I'd seen copies of that picture here and there but I never realized it was a painting of a real person. Colletta Moritz.  I bet you and your buddies were wishing you had somebody like that delivering your beers.   12 liters of beer in one serving.  Wow!!

Thanks to all who liked the story, but  the real thanks should go to Rudy who found it and sent it to me. I was a little apprehensive as I thought that I might get a lot of complaints because it did not directly address shooting. But the image is so iconic and the story is fascinating so I said “why not I’ll take the heat if they don’t like it”. I have gotten more compliments on this Journal than some that I have done that I thought were better. I guess you never know. 
All that I can say is Thank You and to remind you that this is your Journal no matter how hard I try I cant fill a Journal without your help. Send me stuff.

I could not find any drawings of the 32 X 357 Dell. It is a straight taper from base just behind the rim to the mouth. The 32 MS has a double taper as shown in the drawings it starts at what I assume as the original taper for the 32 Miller and then transitions to a tighter taper to get it to the .32 mouth in the shorter distance. If you put the two in the palm of your hand and shake them up you can't tell the difference. The 32X357 Dell will chamber in a 32MS chamber but not the other way around. By the way Charlie always referred to the Cartridge as a 32X357 and always bridled at calling it the 32 Dell. After his death his friends thought that he should get credit for the cartridge and we have started referring to it as the 32 X 357 Dell.

I have Charlie's 32 Dell reamer, as Frog says it is a straight taper and does not cut the rim recess.  I have forgotten the actual measurements but if someone needs the figures  I can get them.    ledball

Froggie is right, as I do have the original taper pin (#7) reamer with a pilot ground on it.
