My old eyes need help and am too chicken to have eye surgery so I have been looking at this Merit Lens Disk thinking it might help. Just bought a 44 Steven's Model 45 with set triggers and a 30" heavy barrel in .22 LR.. Rifle is in good shape and looking at my Steven's 1902 catalog seems to be correct. Barrel has never been drilled for scope blocks and it would be a shame to drill it. So has anyone tried these disk and do they help?

I use both. 

Any stopped down aperture is good and my single shots have Hadley disk.  03's with Lyman 48's use the Merrit, my Anschutz smallbore prone rifle use Anschutz. Ability to open and close while shooting is a big advantage.  Match Sat I moved the Hadley in and out according to sunlight.  Bright sun I could stop it down and sharpen up the front sight picture. Goes dark in clouds you will loose the front sight if stopped too far.

Stick on disk is useful for open sights or pistols anything you can't screw a disk on.  Mostly I use it for open sighted Minne Ball Rifle. If you can use a sight mounted disk it's better. One on the Glasses is a PITA but works just as good as the one sight mounted.

I used to use Knoblock glasses too. They were Ok because you could line up he lens with the sight, not cocked at an angle like regular glasses In the end I had Eye surgery and solved the problem that way.  Surgery was needed for boats & navigation mostly could not see things at distance as good as I used too.  Now don't need corrective lenses to see sights at all.

My Konoblocks were for eye correction and took the stop down on the rifles sight.  Another trick I learned when shooting smallbore prone was from some old good shooters. They close there eyes get into a good natural point of aim. Open quick and confirm all is lined up properly. Close again and break the shot as soon as there eyes open. Your focus deteriorates as you look at the target, faster you shoot when the eye opens better the vision is.

Years ago shooting the Ram Bash at Fairfax Va Elas Lea who was several times national high power champion Olympic competitor etc shot a Trapdoor. He was the guy to beat when he was at least 80 years old. Kept his eyes closed and only opened them to shoot. I though it was real unusual when I first saw it. It works good.

Another thing that's happened to my over 60 eyes is right eye dominant has migrated to left eye dominant. And I am right handed.

Get around this one with a small piece of matt scotch tape on my left glass lens.  Forces focus to the correct eye while still allowing stero vision and not harming balance like closing one eye does.

Jeff Thats a good tip. I force the sights back to my dominant left eye for IDPA pistol shooting so am always switching the tape.

Boats, I have a similar thing happening with my eyes except I see double due to an MS like condition.  It used to raise hell with my shotgunning, (which one is real).  I found that if I rapidly blinked my left eye as I squeazed the trigger I see one image form the right eye while still having good depth perception.
