Hello Gerry,
The plans for a Farrow Action are available from the ASSRA Archivist Rudi Prusok. They are A4 size, but can be enlarged to full size for a few additional bucks at your local 'Print' shop.
The ASSRA price for a set of these plans is a mere US$ 10.00 (a gift)
Contact Rudi at the phone/address below.
Telephone (906) 225-1828, E-Mail: rprusok@nmu.edu
I have always found Rudi to be very helpful and quick in replying to any enquiry. He's a gentleman by any standard.
Once you have the plans enlarged to full size, you will find this action is quite simple in design and construction. If you have a Mill and a lathe, (and know how to use them) then you should have no real difficulty in machining an action out of solid metal stock.
Access to an EMD wire cutting machine would be very helpfull for cutting the side profile and the precision cutting of the Breech Block slot. Not at all cheap to have done commercially, but very well worth the cost.
To make a rifle action from scratch is great fun, and you do get a great sense of accomplishment with each part produced.
I know of one Story casting kit (a Sharps Borchardt) just about completed by a gentleman in California, but most of the work was done I understand, by a pro gunsmith.
If your mind's set on a Farrow, do have a go at making it yourself, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Quote:Thanx Harry, I had the same problem, no one answers but the phone
line is/was operational!
I did manage to get hold of a Farrow that someone built up from one of
the Story kits. Whoever did the work did a first class job, the action works like a Swiss watch and the stock wood is exceptional!
