I recently came into possession of four Wickliffe rifle kits. The kits came with the original parts list and brochures, they look to be a very robust action. The barrels range from 270 to 300 Win Mag. I have searched the internet for photos of finished rifles and there are not many to be found. One was here in the archives on the forum. All seem to be factory finished rifles. I will be completing the rifles as time allows and would like to refine the lines of the receiver and stocks. Has anyone here completed one of these rifles and done any modifications to enhance the appearance of the receiver? I have several ideas in mind but can always benefit from others experience. Photos would be greatly appreciated if they are available. Also any experiences with the use and shooting of these rifles would be of interest.

The receiver's a casting, and the alloy had a trace too much silicon (for ease in casting) in it.  Without either special salts or rust bluing, it turns purple/plum color.  Same thing happens to case hardened iron, like many single shot and double shotguns.

It is though Irish. Soon as I read Blindeyes post I knew I screwed up. The tip off is the three screws along the bottom of the action. I think....They all have that. I think lol.  I have the FBW literature here somewhere.

the mod h is exactly the same as the j except it is larger.
saw an engraved one about 12 years ago.

I have one of these Falling Block Works rifles I just finished checkering in 30-40 Ackley improved. The action is not purple like the one above but the lever is and I don't know if it was originally that color. I like the action because it gives you the accessibility of the low wall and the strength of the high wall.
