This year I am MD at our clubs Smallbore Silhouette.  Gives me a chance to walk down the line and see what everybody is shooting.  Sat match all the top shooters, AAA class, were shooting Black Box Eley except one.  He was using the top grade RWS , a former National Champion Smallbore Hunters pistolshooter just picking up Rifle matches and classified AA for now.  This strong bias toward 
Eley is fairly common, guys gravitating to the same brand. All from Champions choice too.

We run a plinker match too. Cowboy size targets larger than regular smallbore critters. Almost all casual shooters except 3 of us who shoot the Lever guns serious.  One fellow with a plinker had a separate case head with Remington bulk.  Few more had fail to fire with some cheap brand. 

I normally don't shoot when running the match but seeing an opening jumped in on the Cowboy Lever smallbore match. 3 using them all long term rivals with formal match rifles.  My old Marlin 39A with a Lyman 1A tang won the class in a Ram shoot off.  Ram is pretty big Probably 5 moa high by 8 wide.

Used Eley Sport made in Mexico. 6 dollars per 100.  I had tested it previous. Not a great grouper but consistent with no flyers.  It went 20 straight on chickens and pigs before missing the first Turkey.  This is a good example of less than perfect grouping shooting well in a match. On paper in  practice benchrest that rifle &  Sport will not shoot 10 in two inches at 100 yards.  However am halfway though a brick with no missifires or "blooper" shots.

Think I am going to Black Box Eley for matches that count with the Smallbore Hunter Class Silhouette rifle and CPA Schuetzen, could pull out some Tenex for Schuetzen formal matches only.  2nd grade also Eley for pratice matches. Have to figure out which one,.  And could keep the Eley Sport going for the lever gun.  It might be the best of the cheap.  Only thing is we have some side money bet on the Lever guns and don't want to get let down and cost cash.
