Am shopping for some new match ammo and haunting the top teams web sites trying to find out what's in there rifles.   Guessing Biathalon is not enough of an "Accuracy" sport to bring out some of the top brands

I just posted about Boelter's book on the other 22 RF thread.  Boelter reviewed Biathalon ammo by SK Jagd, Eley Biathalon Match & Eley Biathalon Sport.  No Lapua Biathalon was mentioned.  Boelter says the powder in the SK Biathalon ammo appears to be a round flake powder, not the short stick type powder used in the other SK match loads.  He reported that the lube is also different, being thinner & more oily.  Also that the crimp was different.  Since SK Jagd now = Wolf = Lapua, all reported to be coming from the same factory in Germany, maybe Lapua Biathalon is the same as the SK stuff.

Boelter reported that the Eley Biathalon he tested was similar to an old version of BR-50, but used powder that was a different color, with shorter & thicker sticks.  He also reported that later batches of the Eley Biathalon used the EPS bullet and less lubricant.  I'm pretty sure I've seen Eley Biathalon listed in the on-line catalogs from the places that specialize in 22 match ammo.

Last night, I found a website for a SF Bay Area Biathalon club.  One of the members said he had zeroed his rifle near Auburn, California, on the west side of the Sierras.  IIRC, he was using Green Tag, which ought to be good enough for Biathalon-level accuracy.  The guy got to some event in the mountains of Colorado, with very cold temperatures at high elevation, and could not get his rifle zeroed with the Green Tag stuff.  He was given a couple of boxes of Biathalon ammo and the rifle immediately shot to zero.  Apparently there is a difference.

I ought to buy that book,  I think Zediker is the publisher who has genuine good information on anything with his name on it.

If you are interested in accurate 22 RF shooting, Boelter's book  is a good buy.  I think the price went down to $20 the day after I bought my copy for about $32.

I wonder what the Russians are using? Their Olympic teams generally have top drawer stuff.

I saw the book listed for $19.95 on a website just a few days ago.  Maybe Champion Shooters Supply.
