Model 16 Maynard 32-35 question (Read 2724 times)

	I have this rifle, a Hoch mold, ~50 formed cases, a Pope-style re-de capper and some other bits. There are no scope blocks. The gun appears to be original, some outside barrel pitting but the bore appears perfect. Rack and pinion rear and windage adjustable front sights. It shoots very well. Since I don't and can't shoot offhand, the rifle just sits there. I do shoot benchrest, and am toying with the notion of trading this Maynard for a bench gun. I would want a Miller actioned, RKS barreled great shooter with all the accessories-a working going bench gun. Am I in the ball park? Thanks; joe b.

	Joe it's a tough call. I am not aware you can buy a Miller except if somebody wants to sell his personal gun. And RKS makes it even more of a rare bird. Miller - RKS or other good barrel in a short case cartridge is probably the optimal ASSRA bench gun On the Maynard, Cherrys in Greensboro had a nice Maynard collection on consignment several years ago. I looked them over and some were real nice guns. Think they still have one on there web site. None sold fast or high. It's not the most popular gun with the average joe shooter who is thinking about a single shot. Guys that collect them know exactly what they want and will only buy exactly what they want. Boats

	Thanks, I thought I had stumped the band. I don't like to see the gun sit there, don't want any money/to sell it, and only a very good bench gun would get it away from me. Thanks; joe b.

	Joe, Jim Goergen has quite a few Maynards listed on GB. Click on this link (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links) then click on sellers other items and scroll through and you can get an idea on what he thinks they are worth. However, I have not seen any of them draw a bid in the several weeks time that they have been listed so I'm guessing he is on the "high" side.
