Oberhammer Schuetzen Style Rifle (early zimmerstut

This rifle has a large octagon barrel that looks like .54 caliber, but has an inner smallbore described below. It is marked "OBERHAMMER PATENT MUNCHEN" on the barrel. The action has a bolt that turns from one side to the other and One with an opening to insert a small ball and the other side to put a cap on the nipple. The overall length it 39 inches and the barrel is 22 5/8 inches. The large octagon barrel is only 16 inches deep. Then there is a smallbore barrel that takes up the first 6 1/2 inches of the barrel. The lever on the side is pushed forward to trigger an extraction rod for the ball or the nipple depending which way the bolt is turned. I have found that Oberhammer was a German gunsmith and Munchen is German for Munich, but it seems he made mostly rifle/shotgun combination firearms. Please let me know what other information I can provide to find out more about this rifle and what it may be worth. I though about making a YouTube video to show how the bolt action and percussion cap extractor work.

What you have there is a very unusual " Zimmerstutzen "  German parlor rifle.  I recommend you send your pictures and text to (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I agree with you Joe. Our friend here has a really neat ZS. Bring on more info. Apart from Trapdoors, as some of you know, the other soft spot in my heart (or head depending on who you ask Smiley) is those beautiful little 4mm's

Ya Joe. But that's OK. Keep'em coming.  WinkI sure wish there was more info on them out there. I'm at least building a nice library of pictures that I wish I had more info on.

Yep, I havent seen one like this.  This and other marked rifles convinces me that Munich was definately the hot bed for zimmer competition.  Dick& Joe we need to get this guy shootin in the postal.

I see this has been read many times. I was wondering if anyone has a value range for this rifle and/or any suggestions of the best place to sell the gun. Are there any particular dealers or auction houses that specialize in these. Thanks

So am I getting it right that the barrel is 6.5 inches at the rear portion and it's freebored from that point to the muzzle? Not sure I'm getting it right.

And a video would be REAL cool!
