                               Thanks for the photos which I take were those which you took on a recent trip to South Africa.

I was wondering if the " thirteen guys with rifles " were a group that you traveled with from CONUS, or where they people that you met up with upon arrival in S.A.

Are hunting rifles allowed to be brought into S.A. or were they supplied by the local outfitter with associated ammunition?

As to the National parks, there's more than Kruger - I liked Hluhluwe very much, and some of the smaller parks are also gems.  LOTS to see and do there indeed!

     Martini/Belgian thanks for your input . . . would you care to advise which other smaller National Parks (by name) do you have experience with and just what makes one more attractive over the others ?

Greater St. Lucia park is also close by and full of Hippo's and croc's.

The outfitter arranged all the import permits for our rifles.  I brought 3 Martinis back with me.

Notice I used the correct kinds of rifle to hunt with.

Out of Capetown Garden route is nice and a visit to the Stellenbosch is too. Best city is Capetown in my opinion although I like Durban a lot.  Durban has some of the best surfing any-wear.   

Joburg can be missed without any real loss. You probably have to fly in and out of Joburg anyway and that's enough.  I used to work with guys who would go to Sun City and raved about it, if you like Las Vegas sorts of places it's worth a trip.

Good thing about Kruger is it's easy for a first time trip and large enough to hold your interest for at least a week. No guides or outfitters needed either.

All my South African travel was around business or stop overs on the way back from Western Australia so needed places I could visit in 4 or 5 days.   Used to work up in Zimbabwe and Malawi too but today they are best avoided Zim is real bad right now Malawi just poor and has suffered  from it's neighbors problems. 

Never had a problem in SA but always traveled light and low profile.  Carried nothing I could not afford to loose & never lost a thing.
