D F SPECIALTIES CUSTOM ACTION

Anyone  have any info.  on  D F Specialties  custom  actions? I have not heard of them before. There is one for sale on gun broker #152159028  it looks like a FBW  action and looks well made.   THANKS   J B  BOOKS

It certainly looks like a well made action, and, at a 'Buy it Now' price of US$ 600.00, well that's pretty cheap compared with many other modern reproduction actions or even some of the original BP single shots.

Someones likely to get a nice bargain.

Made from 8620.  That's the steel used in M16 bolts.

I'm in north-central Okla. I done the molds for this action in 1998 after seeing a FBW action and their simple design. But they had no tangs for tang sights and to make stocking easier for the average guy. I also wanted a little more meat behind the mortise for added strength. I've been involved in gun building quite a spell and learned to keep it simple and strong, it saves allot of grief.

Welcome 45bullet! Nice to have another source of good single shot actions! The addition of tangs is a nice feature for all the reasons you mentioned!

Indeed it is a very nice looking action. I do see that both tangs are integral with the action, and was just wondering if a curved lower tang would/could be offered for those that prefer a pistol grip to a straight grip?
Also will standard tang sights made to fit a high wall fit on this action?
From the looks of the pics posted on gunbroker, it looks like there is a lot of machining done on your castings. this should help to make for a nice action to fit up to a stock as everything would be nice and even from action to action.
I would hazard a guess that this action will sell well.

Thanks All! I appreciate the feedback and intrest. Sam, I studied the pistol grip idea some time ago and it would be very easy to convert this action to a pistol grip action from a machinist standpoint. cut away the lower tang and attach pistol grip tang alla' HI-WALL. Cost is a issue but if someone wants to spend the money "Thy Will Be Done". I could modify the molds, "more money" and mess-up the gatting for casting. I'll explore this more and try to come up with something. The bottom line is the cost. Right now I'm doing some stainless steel and 4140 actions and will revisit the pistol grip issue when time permits.

No, JB I have not done a low wall yet for the 22's. I'm currently doing two rifles in 22lr on the std. action for silhouette. Right now I want to take care of any extractor issues that may crop up, then I may do a few low-wall type actions.

45, I understand messing with the mold and gating. If what you have right now is working well, and it looks and sounds like it is, then don't mess with what's working. 
Now I do admit that I don't know hi-walls and how they do the pistol grip on the actions, but from the sounds of things it might be an easier option to make either a casting or just a machined lower that could be welded on.
Either way, you do offer a fine looking action and I wish you much success with it.
