Kim,
For informal shooting and hunting, there's nothing wrong with using the existing barrel sights; they're reasonably accurate and very usable under low light conditions. If you feel that you might need a tang sight, mebbe you could try one of the short range stem-adjustment tang sights from Lyman, Marbles, Columbia, etc.
Anyway, it's all about having fun; just go do it.

I've heard good things about the Red River sights, formerly known as Parts Unknown. Prices are reasonable too. It looks like Buffalo Arms is out of the '74 Sharps sights, but you might be able to find them elsewhere.

be warned, have a friend in austin put a browning long range on and the detent was not right and the peep would not focus as the angle on the reciever is different from both the brownings, and highwalls.

get urselfe a Dixy Gun catalogue. They sell Uberti and Pederosoli stuff. So does Midway. Dixie catalogue more than worth its price in information it contains.

Marbles makes a windage adjustable tang sight with interchangable stem heights for the Uberti Sharps. Retails for $129 with one stem, and mount screws are a few dollars extra.
