Hello 40-rod

I would be happy to send you a disc once I have everything scanned.

And here is one more for now, another Schuetzenliesl stein, just in case some don't know the story here is a link to an article that Liselotte Lopez did originally for Stein Collectors International that was reprinted in the Sept. Oct. 1990 American Single Shot Rifle News, which got me interested in them.

Translation for Lady holding the Heart card.

"Ah Targets and the Heart
are something wonderful in Life
You thought you had a Hit
but you shot beside it "

Can't win them all!  I enjoyed seeing the cards and medals.
Danke,
Kurt

Ok, here is another postal card and photo

On the back of the photo in what appears to be period writing it says:

Compliments of Capt.C.H. Beeler Jr
June 7 1887

Thanks, Don

Well I will just keep posting until you get tired of seeing this stuff.

How about a couple of books, I will apologize for the quality in advance I took these hand held in poor light.

These are books on painted wooden targets from Germany Switzerland etc.

Thanks, Don

Anybody else notice that the girl with all the beers on the beer keg has a rat sticking out of her apron?
What's up with that?
Shocked

I’m not sure why, but I think its turnips, not a rat but a turnip.

Even more alarming than the 'rat-turnip' is the depiction of a young lady, obviously underage for the consumption of alcohol, seated and lifting an overflowing stein to her smiling, tender young lips amidst an array of targets. Please note the rifle cradled between her fulsom thighs with its muzzle pointed in such a manner that, should it unexpectedly discharge due to carelessness induced by her or another individual's too liberal consumption of alcholol,  it would surely inflict a mortal wound. Where's the Department of Child Welfare when you need them?  Roll Eyes

Hey Rudi ...  RUDI !   If you're listening, could I make one request ?

Would you mind translating the hand written inscription on the schuetzen post card found above ?

Was wondering if the writer was bragging about his match outcome.

    Thanks,

Here is a little clipping from either Shooting and Fishing or The Rifle.

I have a couple of these, one from New Haven and one from Middlefield

Thanks, Don
