I dont use an open sight Van. Well, I take that back, my German Schutzen rifles have barrel sights that are open and I do use them with the peep sight. When adjusted correctly they sharpen the front pinhead sight very nicely.

All other rifles have peep sights of all sorts. My Hoch has a Anshutz sight. Sometimes I use a Walther. Both have a blue filter to turn the red bull black.

Van if you want a click modern style sight the Redfield Palmas can't be beat. 

Other cheaper Redfields are inferior to a Lyman 48. 48's are great sights though just collectors have run the prices up.  The high dollar new made click adjusters that modern HP shooters use I don't think are any better than Palmas or Lyman 48's  am sure they don't see it that way though.

I think CPA sells a rail that goes on the rear scope mount that has groves for a dovetail attachment rear sight.  If using one of those Anschutz sights are real good and have lots of stuff that can screw on. Polarizers filters adjustable arpetures etc.  Air gun sights work pretty good too.  If you can get zeroed Schuetzen does not require a large range of adjustment and the Air Gun sight will work fine. You might try taking the base adjustment on the front.   

Having said all that and owning and shooting matches with Lyman 48's Redfields Anschutz all of them nothing is better than a good tang sight and MVA makes the best of the bunch.  Don't have much use for the cheap tang sights, Some may be OK but the one I had was pretty bad

Like Westerner prefer Soules for single shots. I think the veneer is more precise than a click you just can't adjust without taking the rifle down and looking, Not a handicap in Schuetzen Big handicap in modern rifle matches on the clock.

MVA's are expensive , you can pick up used click adjusters pretty cheap.  Try Neal Johnsons Gunsmithing in Colorado Springs. He has a lot of consignment Anschutz stuff on his web site.

Well here's the story........I already have a Olympic but it needed an adapter to install the Gehman iris I bought and doing that it seems to decress the size of the hole I see through. An a very good friend told me that him and another shooter had bad luck after about a year by shooting it apart.   The olympic and the adapter and the gehman really sticks out and it feels weak.
Right now there are a couple palmas and Inter. on ebay.
I borrowed a Mos from a friend and with the iris in without the adapter it looks thro looks bigger and the Mos just is more sturdy feeling, so how much would you offer this guy for the Mos??????
Oh, I already have a Cannon (top quality) soule sight but I need the 1.5 mag of the Gehman iris....just can't see the red targets with the soule...
I have a hard time following my grandfathers advice in buying quality the first time and saving $$$$.

Van if the Gehman accessories are what you need probably easier to stay with a German sight.   I guess it depends on the match you are shooting. New made sights are probably great for over the course were lots of adjusting is needed. If shooting only Schuetzen at one distance holding the apertures and accessories and making small precise adjustments is all it needs to do.   I do like some of the stuff you can screw on to Anschutz sights, Polarizer in particular.   Front sights quick adjustable aperture too.
