	I have two 1885 low walls one winchester one browning. They are really delux wood with a lot of bueatiful grain. the problem is the finnish is that poly or water based junk they used to finnish the stocks and I would like to remove it and use an oil based finish to replace it. any help welcombe Don S djsturt@bellsouth.net

	50 50 mix of Lacquer thinner and denatured alcohol. I learned this from an old antique refinisher and it works on lots of finishes. Remove wood from rifle of course.

	Browning has used a lot of epoxy finish on their rifles & shotguns over the past thirty years. If so, you may have to use one of the stronger epoxy strippers, like Certistrip. I've also found that you may have to roughen up the surface first with 80 grit so that the stripper can work on the finish. Good luck! David Kaiser Montezuma, IA

	I used the stripper that Brownells sells on a couple of Rem. shotgun stocks. Put it on and used some 3/0 steel wool lightly to work it in. Took the finish off in one shot with little or no grain raising. Don
