Aren't they larger in diameter than boxer primers? I'd put them on the shelf and get some Hornady brass. Like your shirt; you wear it well!

Large Berdan primers are bigger than our large rifle size. Just take a large rifle or pistol primer and drop it in the Berdan pocket. It should just fall in and fall out. FITZ. Smiley

You can (theoretically) still buy Berdan primers.  Also, in days of yore, some guys drilled out the Berdan primer pocket and soldered in case heads from something like a 218 Bee.  I think Donnelly's book tells how.  But your old Kynoch 405s are collectors items.  Sell them & buy the new Hornady 405s.

Ain't done it myself but I have heard of using hydraulic pressure to deprime bredan. Fill the case full of water and insert a closefitting punch in the mouth. Sharp blow to the punch will supposedly unseat the primer since H2O is incompressible.

The hydraulic pressure method works fine.
It is many years since I reloade Berdan type brass, but my recollection is that you can't use rifle primers---you drill the primer pocket out and use shotgun battery cup primers.
