While I probably never do it I find this subject of "schutzen rifle shooting"
vary fascinating. Are there any books out there that are on this subject?.
Thanks, Frank

Frank, a good place to start would be "Loading and Shooting Traditional Schuetzen Rifles / A Beginners Guide" by Randolph S Wright.  The book "The Modern Schuetzen Rifle 2nd edition" by Charlie Dell and Wayne Schwartz is excellent.  Though only partly devoted to schuetzen, "The Breech-Loading Single-Shot Rifle" by Major Ned Roberts and Kenneth Waters is excellent.

If you only buy one book, I recommend the one by Wright .  I have readl all three mentioned above and highly recommend each. When I bought the Wright book,I wasnt sure what to expect because it is titled as a "begginers " book. Some of the material is probably too basic to be of any real use, such as the page on fitting a buttstock to a single shot rifle. . However, for the most part, it is way more than  a begginer's book and the information about reading the wind and benchrest shooting is worth the price of the book alone, in my opinion..  I got mine from Laurie, but if he doesnt have them you get get it direct from Wright Galleries and I think from Buffalo Arms. Good Luck, Joe S.

Randy Wright's book is the definative work on schuetzen shooting. In the genre of schuetzen shooting it is the equivalent of Frederick the First's "The Art of Falconry".

I saw a copy at a friend's house, and this past week I bought one from Randy at the ISSA matches in Raton.  I might be a know-it-all, but I don't know it all!  And some of what I know, I occasionally need to re-learn...   Tongue

Thank you all for the reccomendations. Like I said I find the subject very interesting and also being starved for reading material helps a lot. Thanks again, Frank
