Books Authored by the late Mr. Charlie Dell

I understand that the late Mr. Charlie Dell of Virginia was the author of several informative books pertaining to schuetzen rifles and shooting competition.

Can anyone help by providing the title names and whether or not these books are presently in publication ?

     Thanks much,

Web,

The only one that I know of is, "The Modern Schuetzen Rifle" written by Wayne Schwartz and Charlie Dell. I am a johnnie come lately so there is likely more that I do not know of. Ask our friend Chris. He will know.

Jon is correct-"the Modern Schuetzen Rifle" 1st and 2nd (revised by Charlie) editions, is it for books, tho he did contribute quite a bit to the Journal over the years.

The answer to the latter portion of your question is that, yes, that one book is still available (the second edition/printing, at least.)  Ever devoted to the well-being of his beloved ASSRA, Charlie donated the remaining copies of the book, along with the printing rights to ASSRA at the time of his passing.  As of May, there were still a couple of cases of them left, available through the ASSRA bookshelf, which you should be able to access through the Home Page of this website.

HTH ~ Froggie

PS  Before his health began to fail so badly, his series of articles in the old ASSRA News and the SSR Journal on the history of the association are required reading if you want to know about how we began and how our association developed.  It might be worthwhile for someone to assemble those into a sort of reprint booklet like NRA used to do. (And no, I'm not volunteering to do it, I have too much on my plate now.  Undecided)

I've said this several times before, but one of the great benefits of belonging to the ASSRA is that members get to use the sizable archive managed by Rudi Prusok. Open any newsletter and you will find Rudi's address, phone number and e-mail, you can call him or write to him, or e-mail him, you can borrow publications, Rudi can xerox articles for you, and in many cases he can e-mail you the material. The ASSRA has a wonderful archive.

Thanks  JON,  SINGLESHOT,  FROGGIE, and BOB for your information.  I will certainly avail myself of the ASSRA archives.  The technical information that Mr. Dell made available to the shooting fraternity through his writings is my primary objective.  However, I am also searching for information about the person, Charlie Dell, and who he was.

The project that Froggie mentions regarding putting a collection of all of Mr. Dell's writing in one volume is a wonderful idea and one which I will discuss with him shortly.

     Thanks much,
