Etna Green Scores

In studying the Etna Green Scores I see that there are a lot,  and I mean a lot of ties in the benchrest for score matches,  in fact there are multiple ties in all three of the benchrest for score matches.

I know how ties are decided and dealt with in NRA shoots and many other shooting associations but being that so many ties are shot in ASSRA I'm not sure how it is done, do they have shoot offs or ?.  I've never seen this many ties in any other shooting, I counted about 15 ties in only three matches, anyone have any comments or ideas as to why there are so many ties in ASSRA benchrest for score shooting.

In ASSRA benchrest competition in the Schoyen Match (10 shots for score, any sights) many good scores are turned in from the high 230's up to 250's.
Since there are about 40-50 shooters shooting in this match, there are bound to be some ties.
In a single target entry such as this. Targets with the most misses are marked lower. No high scoring target has any misses so that tie breaker is out. Next the target with the widest shot is marked lower. This may be a shot on a lower scoring ring or it may be a shot in the same ring that is further from the center of the target.
I do not break ties unless they are in the first 3 places, so the results may actually vary a little from what is reported.

Tied scores are decided by the wide shot. If you and I both shoot 250 and my widest shot is farther from center than your widest shot, you win. If I shoot 248 with 9 centers and you shoot 248 with 8 centers, I win. This is described in detail in the rule book. There are no ties in a score match.

Thanks  Quarter Bore,
I now understand how it's done and also understand the reason for officially only breaking ties down to the first 3 places, after all, a tie for 14th. place probably does not mean much.

Jeff,
Thanks for your expiation also, I am fully aware that if someone shoots 248 with 9 centers someone else shoots 248 with 8 centers the one with 9 centers is the winner, because it's NOT a tie.

I guess the smart thing for me to do is get a rule book so I don't ask any more dumb questions.
Thanks.

S-T If you look above under "General Discussion" you will find an electronic version of the rule book is available.

Thanks Dave,
I tried that before I asked the question but for some reason  the link does not work for me. I click on it and all I get is a HTTP 404 - File not found error, what ever that is, maybe it's my computer ?.
