	I have found a Schuetzen rifle and everything on it is in German, even the caliber. I know that this is rather vague, but what would some of the calibers be for a Schuetzen rifle ( in German). If this is a German rifle, is it adviseable to buy it and hope to find brass? Is there a place to buy this type of brass? Need help SOON!! Thanks

	buggybuilder; This German Schuetzen Rifle is possibly in 8:15 X 46R caliber, brass is available for this caliber or it can be made from 30/30--25/35---32/40--38/55 brass. leadball

	Probably the most commom caliber for a German Schuetzen rifle would be 8.15 by 46R, and as Leadball says, brass is easily made from 30-30 win. The caliber is generally marked on the underside of the barrel as 7.6 or 7.7 mm and refers to the bore (not groove) diameter. Hope this helps. Regards, Joe

	Hey guys, thank you very much for the support and help in this matter. Guess what followed me home today? A pristine L Frankenstorffr-Mannheim Schuetzen rifle. Leadball, you were right. It is a 8.15 x 46R. Included in this deal was a palm rest, another forearm, a Hoch nose pour mold, 60 rounds of brass, a great big peep sight, a key for sight adjustments, target blocks and a hardcase. The only numbers on the mold are C 393. Does this designate bore dia? I am not one bit familiar with this caliber. In American terms, what is this close to? .243, 30-30-,or? If anyone has load information for this rifle, I would appriciate some input so I know what powder to use and how much. I will post some pics later. Thanks again buggybuilder

	The majority of 8.15x46R shooters seem to use around 14grn of 4227---I use 14.5. The mould is important--it should be for a "Stop ring" bullet. Midway along the bullet length is a raised ring of lead. The bullet is seated until this ring butts up against the case mouth. If you have cases, no dies are needed: you simply de-cap, re-cap, add powder and push the bullet home by hand. I tumble lube with Lee liquid alox. I have some new RWS cases but have never used them I use a set of CH4 dies to form cases from 30-30 brass. Fred

	Buggybuilder-I have a 8.15x46R that I also shoot 14.0 grs of 4227.It works using ring bullet.The bullets I used were obtained from Bob Haley @(940)888-3352--his expertise is custom classic cartridge brass and cast bullets.You may want to cll him,Fritz

	My rifle wont shoot a ringed bullet at all. It likes a bullet 180 - 200 gr breachseated. I use a plugged case to breachseat. Cant wait to see those pictures Buggybuilder. Joe.

	I use a breechseated Barnett semi-spitzer sized to .318 in my German Aydt, I've never seen any need for a stop-ring bullet. The loads for a 32/40 are about the same as the 8:15 X 46R --13 gr of AA#9 or 14.5 gr of IMR 4227 word in my rifle. leadball

	buggybuilder- congrats on the find! p.s. I hate you... the 8.15x46 is most like the 32-40, but not interchangeable - and the good folks on this forum have convinced me to go with the 8.15 as is. With the added goodies you got in the deal, you're well ahead of the game. Enjoy!
