	A couple of days ago I got after the odd ball German sight I had and made it fit my AYDT . I test fired the rifle and I can get down to 55yds and go out almost 300 yds. 	Which one did you rework and what did you do to it? One sight looks like it's for a Stahl system rifle. The other looks like what would fit an Aydt. Joe.

	Neat stuff Ol Deuce. I'm kinda trying to do the opposite. Fit the sight from my AYDT Zimmerstutzen to the 32-40 Trapdoor Scheutzen I'm building. Actually, I want to be able to do what they did, "back then," transfer it from one gun to the other. Dick

	Looks like maybe the one on the left was reworked, as it's got a spacer to raise it up higher? The center one is much like what I built for the Aydt I owned, except I built a short traditional base like the vernier had, without provision for mounting screws, and a square shank on the bottom.

	the sight on the right,''The Stahl'' from it's base up was the right height ,I added a base to it to fit the AYDT , The AYDT sight, is old and sights in at 350yds and goes out from their. Why they had such a tall base is beyond me .I though the early matches were out to 200 meters? Randy

I found 4 Basis mounted them and the staff works on all. 44-40, 45-60, 38-55, 32 special. I sure like these old gun rifles Randy

	The "same sight" syndrome is the reason so many, particularly Zimmerstutzens, were "liberated" without sights. Guess I was lucky that this one was. These olde eyes like the diopter. Dick

	Rear Sights for the German Aydt come in at least two different bases, one longer [higher] than the other. The reason for the different tang sights is that the boss for the sight is father back on the tang on some rifles. leadball

	Leadball: I noticed on the picture that trapdoor Dick posted , his boss on the upper tang is really short and the holding screw is on the left. Mine is on the right and taller. But his frame looks smaller. did they have a large frame and a small frame? Dick would you Know? Randy

	Thanks Leadball, that was a new one to me. Really appreciate the info. Do you have any info in the same line re: AYDT or any other for that matter, Zimmerstutzens. I'm gathering info after adminstrating the WSU postal match. Info on ZS's is really limited, but I have learned a ton hosting the postal match and am looking for more. Again thanks. Dick

	I know very little about these Aydt rifles, other than the tang sight boss being in different locations, the headspacing is different on some rifles, some headspaced as usual, some headspace on the [exposed] rim. The frames are different but I don't think there is a large and small frame, on the two Aydt's I"ve played with recently nothing will interchange evertho they look identical. leadball

	Anybody happen to notice that "kinda screw" angled just behind the sight base ? I have no idea what it is there for. Over the 30 years I've had this beautiful little(?) thing, I've tried to figure out what it is for. It doesn't seem to want to turn and I've never forced it. Figured it was better to be ignorant than break it. Dick

	My guess would be that this is a sear engagement adjustment, as my riimfire Haenel "Aydt" has one of these on the tang. Then again, not sure why that would be needed on a rifle with a delicate DST mechanism.
