Lyman STS question

The rear ocular lense on a Lyman STS is marked with the power setting. My question is: to increase the power on a STS can one simply replace the rear lens with one marked with a higher power marking, or is internal adjustments or replacement of parts needed?
Have a 15X and wish to increase to 20X.

Yes you can increaase the power of your scope with the right eye piece! Most eye pieces for increase in power are in the 3% range!
But I`ve not seen them for STS scope! Unertl "YES" I have a couple for Unertl.

Reason I was wondering if it was just as simple as changing the rear ocular lens is that the STS will have the power stamped on the rear lens. Guess I need to find someone at the range that will be willing to change rear lens to see if it works. Almost sounds to easy to increase from say 15X to 20X by just unscrewing the 15X and replacing with a 20X.

I believe you are on the right track about swapping the eyepiece.  Although I have not tried this with a Lyman STS, I have done exactly that with a Litchert.  I had a 20X which I thought was too powerfull, and a friend had a 10X which he thought was too weak.  We traded  and both walked happy.

     The power marking [10X--15X--20X] is on the ring that holds the crosshairs -- you change the power but would still have the old power marking [I think]     leadball

You can bost scopes, have had it done to Leopolds and El Paso Weavers.  There is a diminishing return though. Little bit works fine lot of bost you loose resolution.   I suspect it's more than the one lens change to get everything to "balance"

Considering cost of a STS and how few are avalable think I would ask Gil Parsons before changing.

Litschert and Unertl were made to do this and ocular lenses were sold separately just for this. In Litscherts case so were objective bells available.
Lyman never did offer lenses to change power that I am aware of and this would make one wary. All are not made the same.

If I'm not mistaken when boosting the power as above (Lyman AA, Leupold, Weaver) an additional lense is added. If it were this easy they would simply be changing eye pieces.
