	This may be a bit of heresy but as I have been bitten with the Rem. RB bug I would like to add to my "collection" by getting a Remington Rollimg Block pistol any suggestions of sites that cover this type of single shot pistols?

	Remington actually did make a 50 caliber cartridge pistol on a smaller reduced size rolling block action. Has a pistol grip and small forend do not remember what they were called or the model number. But some who does may see this and hopefully offer a better explanation than I have. Frank

	According to "Remington Rolling Block Firearma by Konrad F. Schreier, jr. " the rolling block pistols were made in .50 rimfire, .50 centerfire, .22 rimfire, .25 and .32 rimfire, .44 russian, 32-20, others on special order. Pictures in his book show both round and half round barrels. At one time, and maybe still, Uberti offered a Rolling Block pistol in both rimfire and centerfire models, I think the calibers were .22 and .22 mag rimfire, 22 hornet and .357 mag. I have seen one of these at a gun show and it looked nice if I remember right. Just wish I had purchased one when they were available. I think that one would be nice in either a .32-20 or perhaps a .44 special. I do not think that they would be a lot of fun to shoot in any of the magnum calibers. Sam

	Considering how few they made total, the Rolling Block pistols are seen more often than one would think. I see more .50's than any other caliber.

	It is interesting to note that both Niedner and Pope made custom barrels for them. Perhaps other famous makers made barrels for them also.

	Back in the late '50's when RB's were plentiful and cheap, like TD's, we'd make pistols out of them in high school shop class and be graded on them. Anybody want to try that in high school today?

	Val, glad you enjoyed the pics. As soon as the rain blows through, that #7 and I are going to burn some powder. Always felt that good rifles rot just sitting in a safe, so I make a point of taking her out at least once a year. Wall-hangers are something I do not abide. Aussie_Hunter, if you can find a picture of a Remington Army Model 1871 pistol, compare it closely with the pics of the #7 rifle. BP

	My 1901 Remington pistol has a tang sight mounted similarly to the one on your #7 rifle. Sight is Pope, barrel is Stevens Pope. Grips (modern) are styled after Roper by Craig Libhart. The pistol is with Keith Kearcher here in Bend, Oregon, getting rust blue and new color case hardening. I'll probably rub a fair amount of the case color off, as I don't like the brand new look on 100 year old pieces.

	Terry, The tang sight on the #7 is the Lyman with an RS code, which is correct for this roller. If you get a chance, please post a pic or two of your 1901 when you get it back. The Remington "Army" frame pistol series are very appealing sidearms. Regards, BP

	Photos will be a couple of weeks (I hope not longer). Vall, Craig Steggall just did this "trick" on a 44 #52 he took home with him from his recent visit. I'll look at it and get the recipe on my next trip to Portland; he said it left a silvered look with overtones of the blues and dark greys from its recent color case harding job. I've heard toilet bowl cleaner works, but perhaps he came up with something more elegant sounding.

	be careful with toliet bowel cleaner, i used it just last week again ,and it really will take the blueing off a gun fast .you can make new gun look old real fast .i never used it on a color cased gun . jerry

	Aussie_Hunter, Just saw an add on the Remington Society of America website - RSA Classifieds section - listing a Remington M1871 Army Pistol for sale. Look about 1/2 way down the left hand column, email and phone are shown in the add.
