.50 caliber ricochet

Check out the You Tube video link ( (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)) to see what can happen when shooting at metal targets with jacketed or iron core bullets.  I understand the target was a metal plate at 100 yds and the rifle is firing a .50 BMG.  Makes one really appreciate the "splat" of soft cast bullets.

Lead will do it too, I had a 200 gr SWC fired from a 1911 come back and hit me in the shoulder. Fired at a steel plate 25 yards.

Good thing is generally the energy is spent, this one did not even bruise

One time a fellow showed up for a high power match with a bunch of tracer ammo. A very high percentage of those bullets bounced out of the backstop and left the range. There is no reason to believe the same thing isnt happening with regular ammo, cast or jacketed. Joe S

We had a fellow shooting Cowboy targets at slightly less than 11 yards with cast bullets. A richochet kicked back and punctured through his blue jeans. The slug stuck into the end of his penis.

Sometimes people learn the hard way.

Shooting STEEL at 11 yards is STUPID!

I know and I've got the scar to prove it (shoulder in case you're thinking it elsewhere).  OK, I was in H.S. and have learned a LOT since then.
