ASSRA .22 Match this weekend

As you probably know the Spring National .22 Match is taking place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Beesons Range near Etna Green, Indiana. As you may know we are working on upgrading the restrooms and adding a shower. Due to some bad breaks with the weather the new shower will not be available for use at this time. We will have the regular bathrooms back in operating condtion however.
Here is the current state of things.

We are having beautiful 80+ degree weather. In addition we are having some wind to make it a little more challenging. Should be a repeat of todays weather tomorrow. More shooters have been rolling in tonight for Saturday's shooting.

Larkin Smith is participating in the ASSRA .22 RF matches. Shouldn't you? Cheesy

just got home from EG.  light turnout this weekend--probably close to the smallest since we started the having the two 22rf events. dunno what the actual number of registered shooters was.  other events might have kept some away, Spring Turkey season was starting in IN and elsewhere, and a big auction at Rock Island.  Then there was the weather----!!!!!!!!!

EG is a fairly windy range due to the geography and topography, and the Spring and Fall 22 shoots are during the seasonal wind shifts.
But this weekend was a new dimension.  I'd guess we had steady 10+ mph out on the range the whole weekend with lots of much stronger erratic gusts and constantly shifting directions.  Very hard to "catch a condition".

The only let up was this morning.  It calmed down for an hour or so just before the 1st relay.  but as soon as the "commence firing" sounded it started right up.  About the time you got 2 feet of windage rezeroed and got a few shots you had to start cranking it back.

I doubt any records were endangered--- other than some for "lowest winning score".  In spite of that a few guys shot some respectable scores  (myself NOT included---Offhand in that wind was a humbling educational experience).  I imagine Ken will get the scores posted here in a day or so.

The whole match went really smoothly--everyone pitched in and we got everything set up, the matches run, and taken down without any extreme effort.
The newly revamped restrooms are VERY NICE.  washing and shave with hot water--almost made up for the wind.  By the Spring Shoot the shower room will be finished and ready. They also were able to get the concrete slab poured at the east end of the firing line and the backstop is being built up a few  more feet and made a WHOLE lot thicker and safer.
The guys managing the range deserve a commendations and a BIG THANK YOU.

Thanks CP.  It wasn't the smallest after all.  GOOD!!!!
I guess the number of guys who came to shoot just one day of the three made it seem that way to me.  I really appreciate the 3-day format.  It gives one more day of  opportunity to shoot.  I know for certain that we had at least 3 guys who were able to come shoot on Friday who would not have made it otherwise because of sat/sun obligations.
