Those of you interested in mounting an externally adjustable tube scope most likely have run across a couple of threads I started on the subject along with other comments.  I was seriously considering mounting a Leatherwood scope on one of my Browning BPCRs using Unertl mounts.  But I’ve recently located a complete 8X ¾” Fecker scope and mount outfit, which is headed my way.  So, I believe I’ll hold on to my Unertl rear mount in case I decide to go ahead with mounting a Leatherwood on another Browning.  In case you have or are considering a Unertl setup or Unertl mounts, the following information may be useful.

Unertl Optical Co. - A little history and current status

Note – There may be some errors in the following information, but it is the best data on the company that I could find at this time.

Unertl Optical Company, Inc. manufactures telescopes, mirror mounts, and riflescopes.  The company markets products under the brand name Unertl, catering to law enforcement agencies and armed service branches. Formerly known as John Unertl Optical Company, Unertl was founded in 1934 and was originally based in Mars, Pennsylvania.

October of 2000
I understand that 21st Century (owned by John Unertl Junior and Rocky Green) purchased the assets, patents and the Unertl trademark.

2002
·Rocky Green is now the sole owner of the company.
·Headquarters has been moved to 2900 South Highland Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89109, 702-369-4092.  Las Vegas develops and works on night sights and military optics.
·There’s still a very small office in Mars, PA, 16046 (P.O. Box 895 – Staffed by Freda Shaw, 724-816-2813).  If you call Freda she will most likely refer you to either the Las Vegas or Fairborn operations.
·
2009
·There is now a small operation in Fairborn, OH 45324 (1209 E Dayton Yellow Springs Rd.).  Aaron Davis, a long-term Unertl employee, staffs it.  Aaron repairs and reconditions externally adjustable Unertl scopes.  He can be reached at 937-631-2854 or via email at aaron_unertl@earthlink.net.  Some parts are also available for sale.  If you need parts and or repairs, this is the Unertl guy you need to contact.

Of course, many of you know or are aware of Parsons Scope Service, (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) 513-867-0820.  Gil Parson has been repairing and reconditioning Unertl and other top of the line externally adjustable scopes for many, many years.  But when I contacted him for some common Unertl parts, he declined, indicating his parts inventory was only for internal use.
