forum;  does anyone have an idea of the value of a model  44  that has been recased reblued and the original wood refinished  actin is tight and bore is good it is in 32/40 and has a good unertyl 10power scope on it   thanks in advance   art r

Well the Unertl is probably worth as much as the 44 in today's market! I'd say around $1300-$1400 for the combo.

FWIW, a .32-40 is on the edge of being too much cartridge for a 44 action.  Go very light on the loads.

Yep, there's a reason Stevens dropped the caliber from the 44 model. Careful reloading will allow the caliber to be fired for a long time with no ill efects, but I wouldn't use any factory loads.
